GCMP Spotter Buoy Update: The Guam Coastal Management Program (GCMP) is informing the public that our Malesso' Spotter buoy had recently detached from its mooring as of Thursday, December 11, 2025. This buoy has been a valuable tool for the community to check real-time wave conditions in Malesso', and while this is an unfortunate loss, you can still find wave data for the Hågat Spotter buoy on the 'Backyard Buoys' mobile app. The Malesso' buoy is currently about 90 miles west of Guam and retrieval is unlikely, but we ask that mariners or community members who may spot the bright yellow buoy contact the GCMP team at 671-475-9664 with the location. We appreciate your patience and assistance as we work to restore this critical monitoring asset.
