This Disability Pride Month, we are celebrating adaptability, inclusion, and the invaluable expertise our maritime professionals carry with them.

Meet Electrical Technical Officer, Karandady Rao. After sailing with V.Ships since 2019, Karandady faced a life-changing diagnosis of Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which left him unable to continue working at sea. But his motivation, drive, and deep maritime expertise remained completely unchanged.

Through a collaborative team effort, V.Ships supported his transition, matching his extensive deckside knowledge with a vital onshore role. Today, Karandady is thriving as an Electrical Superintendent based in Chennai, continuing to steer our operations forward from a new vantage point.

Whether your transition is driven by health, family, or a desire for a new challenge, your journey doesn't stop here. Learn more: https://vcare.vcrew.com/seafarers-bulletin-may-2026/ .

Checklists keep us on track. ✅⚓

But real safety culture is built on accountability, trust and open communication.

Whether its taking ownership on one's work, staying alert on deck, speaking up when something is wrong, or welcoming a new crew, these everyday actions help keep the crews and the ship safe.

With the right tools and resources, seafarers can build that culture onboard. Because safety isn’t just what we do — it’s how we care.

⚓ Life onboard brings unique challenges, and a connected, resilient crew can make all the difference.

Whether it's sharing a laugh over meals, celebrating special occasions, or simply having conversations after shift, these moments help create a supportive and resilient work environment onboard.

When trust and connection are built, they help reduce feelings of isolation, improve work efficiency, and contribute to a safe workplace for everyone.

Every challenge faced onboard and offshore shapes resilience and strength.

For women in maritime, it’s not just about mastering the work. It’s about breaking stereotypes and proving that capability has no gender. From the decision to join to the first steps on deck and the toughest storms, every moment shapes resilience.

At V.Ships, we are committed to fostering a culture where respect and inclusion aren't just values on a wall, but the standard on every deck.
