The original intake components work well on a stock vehicle, but as airflow demand increases, they quickly become a restriction.

The OEM airbox is limited in both internal volume and acoustics, muting the characteristic M45 supercharger whine.
The factory charge pipe is another significant restriction. Its irregular internal geometry exists primarily to reduce intake noise and to simplify the manufacturing process, as the original part is assembled from multiple pieces.
