Greek Real Estate’s Green Revolution: Portfolio Value Surges to €6 Billion as GRESB Participation Triples!

The Greek real estate sector is undergoing a dramatic transformation, with sustainability now at the heart of its growth strategy. According to the latest assessment for & , the number of Greek companies participating has tripled since 2022. This surge reflects a broader shift: the value of assets assessed for ESG criteria has soared from €2.4 billion to over €6 billion in just three years.

Key indicators highlight this momentum. The average GRESB score for Greek companies’ standing investments has jumped by 80%, and nearly 2.7 million square meters of property are now evaluated for management and performance. While Greece still trails the global average, the gap is closing fast, especially in governance and management practices.

Yet, challenges remain—particularly in performance metrics, which require sustained investment and innovation. For investors, the message is clear: sustainability is no longer optional but a defining factor for long-term competitiveness. Greek Property Companies are positioning themselves alongside their European and U.S. peers, embracing net-zero targets, decarbonization, and a cultural shift toward responsible growth.
