Greece Bird Tours

Every time I visit Lesvos — for the past 15 years — the first morning always begins with a visit to the Tsiknias River.
It is spring, and the tall thistles have already grown high enough for the Black-headed Buntings to choose them as their favorite singing perches. No matter how many times you see and hear these bright yellow birds — arriving in April from India to breed on Lesvos — you never get tired of them.
I always prefer the eastern bank of the river, where the morning light beautifully illuminates the vegetation. With a little patience, you can photograph the buntings perched beside the purple thorny flowers, against a lush green background.
