Naval Analyses

Based on information published on X by in August 2024, the 🇵🇹 Portuguese Navy is expected to equip a significant number of its vessels with RWS supplied by the Spanish EM&E:

- 6 x 12.7mm on Vasco da Gama-class frigates (2 each)
- 12 x 12.7mm on the new OPVs (2 each)
- 6 x 30mm on the new OPVs (1 each)
- 18 x 12.7mm on the new CPV/NPC (3 each)
- 4 x 12.7mm on the new AORs (2 each)

Total: 40 x 12.7mm and 6 x 30mm RWS on 3 frigates, 6 offshore patrol vessels, 6 coastal patrol vessels and 4 replenishment ships.

Plus 1 x 30mm RWS will be used in rotation on the OPVs.
No RWS for the 2 x Viana do Castelo S2-OPVs.
No 12.7mm RWS for the 2 x Bartolomeu Dias-class frigates.
