Design Thinking has expanded beyond design teams and is now applied across diverse industries. As a result, professionals with varying levels of familiarity with Design Thinking need to engage with and apply this approach in their projects.

“Service Design in Local Government – the case of Waltham Forest Council”

George will be speaking about the Council’s journey in establishing an internal Service Design team within the Council. He will share the biggest challenges the team has faced and is facing when making the case and space for service design. He will also share a case study in which the Design process helped the Council identify opportunities for improvements and deliver better outcomes for residents.

More about George Despotidis:

George is working as a Service Designer for the London Borough of Waltham Forest. He is a member
of the Council’s in-house Service Design team working on transformation projects across the Council
to support its services deliver better outcomes for residents. George is also a founding member of
Service Design Network Greece which aims to create a cohesive community of service design
professionals, academics and students that are collectively committed to advancing the practice and
establish the Service Design discipline in Greece. He holds a Master of Arts in Social Research, a
Master of Science in Public Management and a Bachelor in Local Government.

Την Παρασκευή 28 Φεβρουαρίου, ο Γιώργος Δεσποτίδης George Despotidis θα μας περιγράψει,πώς ένας από τους Δήμους του Λονδίνου ενσωμάτωσε στο εσωτερικό του μια ομάδα σχεδιαστών. Θα μοιραστεί μαζί μας τις μεγάλες προκλήσεις που αντιμετώπισε και συνεχίζει να αντιμετωπίζει η ομάδα αυτή προκειμένου να δημιουργήσει τις ιδανικές συνθήκες και να ενσωματώσει την κουλτούρα του Service Design. Θα μας εξηγήσει μέσα από case study, πως το service design βοήθησε τον Δήμο να αναγνωρίσει ευκαιρίες για βελτίωση προκειμένου να παρέχει τις καλύτερες δυνατές υπηρεσίες στους πολίτες.

Ο Γιώργος εργάζεται ως Service Designer στο Waltham Forest Council. Είναι μέλος της εσωτερικής ομάδας σχεδιαστών που διαθέτει ο Δήμος και εργάζεται σε έργα που φέρνουν την αλλαγή εσωτερικά προκειμένου να παρέχονται πιο εύχρηστες υπηρεσίες στους πολίτες. Ο Γιώργος είναι επίσης ιδρυτικό μέλος στο Service Design Network Greece μέσω του οποίου προσπαθεί να δημιουργήσει μια κοινότητα από επαγγελματίες σχεδιαστές, ακαδημαϊκούς και φοιτητές γύρω από το Service Design.
