Thisio is a limited small district-area of Athens. It has been characterized as a traditional settlement. In the same area is also a remaining part of the once small quarter of Stoa Attalos. It took its name from the adjacent Temple of Hephaestus, formerly called Theseus, incorrectly, from the bas-reliefs of Theseus's exploits on its fronts.
