The Erechtheion. Here, instead of columns, six graceful female figures, the famous Caryatids, that hold up the roof. Five of the originals now stand in the Acropolis Museum, displayed on a special balcony where they can be admired from every angle. The sixth remains in the British Museum, leaving a silent absence behind.

The Stoa of Attalos in the Ancient Agora of Athens. The building you see today is a reconstruction of the original ancient stoa, built between 1953–1956 by the American School of Classical Studies. In antiquity, the Stoa of Attalos was one of the earliest and largest commercial spaces of its kind, a place where people gathered, traded goods, and socialized, much like an ancient shopping center in the heart of Athens.
