June in motion 🦅

This month’s calendar captures the striking Black Kite – one of Gibraltar’s most spectacular seasonal visitors. Thousands of these birds of prey pass through the Strait of Gibraltar each year, creating one of nature’s most remarkable migration corridors between Europe and Africa.

The Upper Rock Nature Reserve offers a front-row seat to this incredible journey, where soaring cliffs and rising thermals help carry these birds across the sea.

A moment to pause, look up, and appreciate the rhythms of nature right on our doorstep.

🌸 As February comes to a close, we’re bidding farewell with one of Gibraltar’s rarest natural gems.

This month’s calendar highlight features Ophrys apifera, the Bee Orchid, photographed on Windmill Hill Flats. Its striking resemblance to a bee and its delicate form makes it one of Gibraltar’s most fascinating wildflowers.

Extremely rare locally, with only a handful recorded across scattered locations, the Bee Orchid is a reminder of the unique biodiversity thriving around us.
