Sailing SY Seaduction

Well a week has passed since we landed in Hiva Oa and since then we have managed to do some provisioning, catch up with sailing friends who were a week or two ahead of us on their Pacific crossing, and generally just rest. Its amazing what your body and mind can do when it needs to. 19.5 days and nights at sea, where you are constantly either consciously or sub consciously tracking every noise, the wind, the movement of the boat, the weather, the radar, the sky...absolutely everything and you do it relentlessly until you reach your destination safe and sound.....and then its time to clean. We can't believe how dirty the boat was above the water line. Its taken several days to get the hulls cleaned by hand but at least we found somewhere very nice to do it 😎

Good morning from Seaduction. Day 18 and it looks like its going to be a nice sunny day. The wind, as forecast, changed to 45°T (NE) which meant a slight sail switch at 3am this morning. We are now on a starboard tack at TWA 165°S, running a simple genoa, #3 screecher 'gull wing' configuration for the downwind run to the chequered flag. Winds are 12 to 14 knots and in our current configuration we are making good speed between 6 and 7 knots. Just under 300Nm to Hiva Oa and Seaduction is humming, as are we. ETA Hiva Oa, Marquesas AM Friday 5 Jun 26.
Day 17 today and all is well. Wind has dropped off sadly and is now ENE making for a dead downwind sail at least for the next day or so. Not much to tell apart from the sun is shining and we deployed the new #3 screecher from on the Sunshine Coast in a 'wing on wing' configuration. Its been a fabulous addition to the sail wardrobe and has been our go to sail of choice for most of the passage. Only 400ish NM to go to make landfall 🥳
