Big fun

I was once a son, now I’m a father and these are lessons I have learnt, concerning fatherhood.

1. It is very easy to be a better father than an spouse; and yet the children develop better when we are a better spouse to their mother.

2. Children come with different personalities.

3. At a certain age children think they know better than their fathers, they learn the hard way that they don’t.

4. Discipline is a sign of love

5. Daughters are special

6. Your favourite child is likely to be the one among your children to disappoint you.

7. You matter to your children even when they act as if they don’t care about you.

8. There is something called ‘dad wound’ and it is real.

9. Boys will always manifest at least one trait of their father, whether they know him or not.

10. Children can be understanding if their father’s can explain their situations to them.
