A 40-year-old Cape Verde goalkeeper has shared an emotional post-match moment after being named Man of the Match in his country’s FIFA World Cup opener against Spain.
In his remarks, he revealed that he was overwhelmed with emotion following the game, explaining that he was raised by his grandparents, who have since passed away. He added that his mother was also unable to attend the match due to visa challenges and financial constraints.
“I cried after the game because I grew up with my grandparents when I was a kid, and they could not be there. They passed away a few years ago. My mum could not be here either for a visa issue, and the money we had to pay for it. We did not manage to do this in time,” he said.
The veteran goalkeeper’s performance and emotional tribute have drawn widespread admiration from fans.

A Kenyan domestic worker in Lebanon, identified as Faith Jepchumba, has reportedly been sentenced to nine months in prison following a dispute with her employer over unpaid wages.
According to reports, the disagreement began when Jepchumba demanded payment of outstanding salary arrears allegedly owed to her by her employer. The matter later escalated into a legal battle, culminating in court proceedings and her subsequent conviction.
The case has sparked discussions on the treatment and rights of migrant domestic workers in foreign countries.

A 37-year-old mechanic, Collins Adu has been sentenced to seven years in prison by the Kwadaso circuit court over the defilement a 16-year-old girl, at Kronom in the Suame municipality of the Ashanti Region.
It is reported that on 9th April, 2025, the victim was on her way to the her grandfather’s vulcanising shop, when she met the convict, who allegedly lured her into his room. He then proceeded to engage in sexual relations with her and gave her GH¢10.
Following her return home and questioning of her whereabouts by her guardian, the victim opened up about the incident, leading to a formal police report and the subsequent arrest of the convict.
