DUAYAW NKWANTA CAMP PRISON SENSITIZES INMATES

Health personnel from the Duayaw Nkwanta Health Center as part of the Mental Health Awareness Month on 27th May, 2026 organized a sensitization programme for the inmates of the station.

The programme was aimed at educating inmates on the harmful effects associated with the misuse of drugs and other addictive substances. During the session, the health officers discussed the causes of substance abuse, its physical and psychological effects, and the long-term consequences addiction can have on individuals, families, and communities.

Inmates were encouraged to avoid peer influence, embrace positive behaviour, focus on rehabilitation and self-improvement. They were also advised to seek counselling and medical support when necessary.

The sensitization programme forms part of efforts to promote healthy living and support the reformation and reintegration of inmates into society.

SAB FOUNDATION HOLDS HAIR BRAIDING AND MAKEUP ARTISTRY COMPETITION AT KUMASI CENTRAL PRISON

SAB Foundation led by Madam Victoria A. Yalley has organized a hair braiding and make-up Artistry Competition at the Kumasi Central Prison and the Kumasi Female Prison some part of the Creative Arts initiative under the Think Prisons 360 Degrees.

The colourful event, which drew dignitaries from across the Ashanti Region, featured competitions in hair braiding, makeup artistry, dancing, and rap.

Winners across all competition categories received cash prizes donated by the SAB Foundation as an encouragement to the inmates and a recognition of their individual talents.

The event reinforces the Think Prisons 360 Degrees initiative's core philosophy of holistic inmate rehabilitation, recognising that creativity, skills development, and social reintegration are as vital to the reform process as any formal programme.

Present at the event was the Ashanti Regional Prisons Commander, Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP) James B. Mwinyelle (Ing), Officer-In-Charge of the Kumasi Female Prison, Assistant Director of Prisons (ADP) Florence Asabea Taylor and the Nkosuohene of Kaase Traditional Area, Nana Owusu Banahene
