🚨 NACOC Orders Mandatory Registration for Businesses Handling Controlled Chemicals and Equipment

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has directed all individuals, businesses, institutions, and organizations dealing in precursor chemicals, psychotropic substances, and controlled equipment to register with the Commission as required under the Narcotics Control Commission Act, 2020 (Act 1019).

The directive covers importers, exporters, manufacturers, distributors, laboratories, educational institutions, transporters, and others handling such substances or equipment. Affected entities must complete their registration by 31st July 2026, while existing operators are expected to ensure their licences remain valid and renewed.

NACOC warned that operating without the required registration, licence, or authorization is a violation of the law and may attract administrative, civil, or criminal sanctions. The Commission also listed several controlled laboratory and industrial equipment, including tableting machines, rotary evaporators, mixers, condensers, and reaction vessels, among others, as subject to regulation and monitoring.

For enquiries, affected persons can contact NACOC via [email protected] or call +233 303 971395 / +233 302 761065.

🚨 Football Governance Dispute Erupts Over Balogun Ban Reversal

A major controversy has rocked world football after UEFA accused FIFA of “crossing a red line” by overturning the automatic one-match suspension imposed on United States striker Folarin Balogun during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Balogun was initially ruled out of the USA’s Round of 16 clash against Belgium after receiving a straight red card in the group-stage match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Under FIFA regulations, a straight red card normally results in an automatic one-match suspension.

However, FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee suspended the ban for one year, making Balogun eligible for the knockout fixture.

The decision has sparked widespread debate following reports that US President Donald Trump personally appealed to FIFA President Gianni Infantino to reconsider the punishment.

Reacting to the development, UEFA described FIFA’s decision as “unprecedented, incomprehensible and unjustifiable,” warning that it could undermine confidence in the integrity and consistency of football’s disciplinary rules.
