The Reading Factory
After months of planning and fundraising, I was thrilled to see the hashtag and 2024 Inclusive Reading and Arts Festival come to fruition. The event, a collaboration between The Reading Factory, Ho Municipal Education Directorate, and the Volta Regional Education Directorate, showcased the incredible abilities of children with diverse learning styles.
Edem (not the real name), a student from Ho Anglican Primary School, was a standout at the festival for me. His unique learning style, characterized by swaying and singing while reading, highlighted the importance of differentiated learning. Reflecting on Edem’s unique abilities, I appreciated the importance of learning through play and building upon individual strengths. This experience made me wonder, how many other children are overlooked or mislabeled due to their diverse learning needs. Edem's story serves as a powerful reminder for educators to appreciate each student's individuality and adapt their teaching methods accordingly.
This exposure and experience are a result of the collective efforts Saraswati Arthur Airlykplym Havor Esi Korkor Arthur Rukmini Esi Arhtur Zainab Iddrisu among great men and women. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported the 2024 Inclusive Reading and Arts Festival. Your contributions brought joy and inspiration to over 100 children. We look forward to continuing our work in 2025 and making a lasting impact on the lives of young learners.
