Efforts to tackle youth unemployment and strengthen livelihoods in Ghana’s Eastern Region are gaining momentum through the Youth in Entrepreneurship and Agribusiness Project (YEAP). The initiative is equipping young people with the skills, structures, and opportunities needed to succeed in agribusiness.
A key milestone is the formation of the Apese Youth Cooperative Maize Farming and Marketing Society under the Supresu Epicenter, reflecting YEAP’s goal of driving socio-economic empowerment by improving employment and incomes.
Through targeted training across 13 Farmer-Based Organizations (FBOs) in Abehenease, Darmang, and Supresu, participants gained practical knowledge in cooperative principles, governance, and group formation—strengthening their ability to access markets and negotiate better prices.
The initiative also promotes inclusive leadership, with strong female representation in key roles, reinforcing women’s role as drivers of community transformation.
As these cooperatives grow, they offer a promising pathway to reducing unemployment and building sustainable livelihoods across the region.

At The Hunger Project–Ghana, we recognize that protecting Adolescents requires not just good intentions but strong, informed law enforcement and civil service agencies that understand their role in safeguarding adolescents.
On April 23rd, The Hunger Project–Ghana convened partners from the Ghana Health Service, Ghana Education Service, CHRAJ, and DOVVSU in Koforidua for a capacity-building workshop under the Adolescent Health Project.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacity of these agencies to better understand, apply, and enforce laws and policies that protect adolescents’ rights, health, and well-being.
The Adolescent Health Project is being implemented by The Hunger Project–Ghana in collaboration with ora Kinderhilfe and funded by Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ)
