Why was Jesus arrested in the middle of the night?

In this message, we take a closer look at the events leading up to the trial of Jesus Christ—and what was really happening behind the scenes.

By the time Jesus entered Jerusalem, a powerful religious system had taken control of the temple. What was meant to be a place of prayer had, in many ways, become a place of profit and control. When Jesus openly confronted that system, everything changed.

The people listened to Him.
They followed Him.
They heard truth.

And that created a problem for those in power.

The Bible tells us the leaders were seeking a way to kill Him, “for they feared the people” (Luke 22:2). So they moved quietly—arresting Jesus at night, away from the crowds, and rushing Him through a series of hearings before morning.

This message explores:

• The corruption surrounding the temple system
• Why Jesus’ actions threatened the religious leaders
• Why the arrest had to happen in secret
• And how God was still at work through it all

This is not just a story about what happened that night—it’s a reminder that truth cannot be silenced.

What they tried to stop…
God used to bring salvation to the world.

Hold Israel in prayer and stay attentive to what’s unfolding in the Middle East. Also pray for the people of Iran wanting a change from radical Islam.

Here are three points to consider about the events happening at the present time:

1. A Change of Governing Power in Iran (Elam)
Jeremiah 49 talks about a time when Elam’s “bow,” meaning its military power, gets broken. Today’s attacks on Iran’s military and nuclear sites look like that kind of weakening, but the Bible doesn’t say it will happen through one specific event.

2. A Possible Result of Change in Power as in Ezekiel 38
Ezekiel 38 describes a future time when Israel feels safe before a major attack called the Gog invasion. If Iran becomes weaker, it could make the region feel calmer for a while, which some people think might fit into that future setup.

3. Iran’s (Persia) Future Role Still Stands
Even if Iran loses strength now, Ezekiel 38 doesn’t say Iran has to be powerful or extreme. It only says Persia (Iran) will be part of a future alliance that comes against Israel. Changes in government or military losses don’t cancel that long‑term prophecy.

A lot is happening in the Middle East right now, and it’s natural for people to feel uneasy. But moments like these remind us of something steady: God is not surprised, shaken, or caught off guard. Nations rise and fall, tensions come and go, but His purposes stand. We can pray, stay informed, and trust that He is still in control. Fear doesn’t have to lead the way - faith can.

Picture an auction.
A woman on the block—Gomer.
Head down. Hope thin.

But this isn’t just her story. It’s ours.

In this message from the book of Hosea, we uncover the auction we don’t always see—the quiet whispers of sin that slowly claim ownership. The enemy doesn’t shout. He bids cheap… and leaves expensive chains.

Then one Hand rises.
A scarred Hand.
A nail-pierced Hand.

Jesus doesn’t bargain. He pays in full. The cross wasn’t decoration—it was a transaction. The scars prove the price was real.

The chains are unlocked. The door is open.
The highest bid has already been made.

The only question left is—will you step down and accept it?
