Ghana Climate Innovation Center

Five years ago, Canada’s International Development – Global Affairs Canada invested in Ghana's climate innovators through the Supporting The Green Economy Of Ghana Project, delivered by Ashesi University's Ghana Climate Innovation Centre.

Advanced Packaging, Inc. (Cohort 7), a circular economy enterprise that recycles paper waste into egg crates experienced a fire which destroyed their production equipment. Most businesses would have collapsed but because they had learned about insurance during incubation, they rebuilt and expanded.

Delivery (Cohort 8), a last-mile logistics company connecting northern farmers to markets, with grant support acquired electric motorbikes, cutting emissions while creating opportunities for female riders in a male-dominated sector.

But the most unexpected ripple? The Male Masculinity Workshops. Men trained in emotional intelligence and inclusive leadership. Measurable increases in women's participation in climate ventures. Higher funding success for teams with workshop graduates. What began as gender programming became GCIC's secret weapon, transforming traditional notions of masculinity into a force for collaborative growth.
