The Church Under Siege: The Dangers of Familiarity.

One may ask, in what ways does familiarity threaten the church? Familiarity is a pernicious parasite that can devastate one's ministry if not managed strategically.

I have witnessed numerous churches where I have been invited to preach, and upon seeing my face on the flyer, members who have been absent for years or months suddenly fill the auditorium. In some instances, pastors have expressed astonishment at the significant amount of money I was able to raise, which would have taken them months to achieve.

A pastor once confided in me that he was astonished to see his own wife donate a substantial amount when I was raising funds, as this was unprecedented when he was leading the fundraising efforts.

Have you also observed how members tend to follow the spiritual directions of a visiting pastor while disregarding those of their own pastor, who has been with them for years?

If you have members who only attend your programs when they see new faces on the flyers, it is crucial to manage your relationship with them effectively. This behavior is detrimental to the church's overall health.

Members should not become complacent with their leaders, nor should they perceive them as outdated. If you are experiencing this issue in your church, I am available to assist you in addressing this behavior.

Sometimes, my emphasis on discipline is misconstrued as arrogance or strictness.
