William Anim-Addo

of St. Bernard | St. Bernard of Clairvaux was a French abbot during the early twelfth century. St. Bernard joined the monastic community of Citeaux at age twenty and became abbot at age twenty-four to a monasteryin the valley of Wormwoods, which St. Bernard renamed the valley of Clairvaux. St. Bernard is known for serving as an advisor to popes, as a preacher of the Second Crusade, and as a Scripture scholar and theologian. St. Bernard also reformed Benedictine monasticism which led to the formation of the Cistercian order.

SAINT VERONICA OF THE VEIL

St. Veronica is known as the woman who wiped the face of Jesus on His way to His crucifixion.

Identified with the woman with an issue of blood who touched the hem of Christ’s raiment and was healed.

According to legend, she is said to have encountered Jesus before he was Crucified. When Veronica met Jesus, she saw He was bruised and battered. His face was dirty, scared and bloody, with stains of spit clinging to his cheeks. Veronica was overcome with emotion and adulation for Jesus. She met Him and took her veil to cleanse his face of the filth and excrements of his tormentors. Jesus carried on on His journey and after he left, the cloth Veronica used miraculously showed an image in Jesus’ likeness, which still exists to this day. This image was called the Vera Icon (true image) and the cloth was called the sudarium. This sacred cloth possessed remarkable healing power.

The relic is still preserved in St. Peter’s in Rome, and the memory of Veronica’s act of charity is commemorated in the Stations of the Cross.

St Veronica is patron against bleeding or hemorraghes, domestic workers, dying people, laundry workers, linen weavers, maids, parsonage or rectory housekeepers, photographers, seamstresses, washerwomen.

MORNING PRAYER FOR BREAKTHROUGH

Dear God, You make all things new. I start my day off by declaring my praise and worship to You because You are good and so worthy.

I pray for protection over my life as I walk faithfully in the things You’ve called me. Please help me to be sensitive to Your holy spirit and to be obedient when You call.

I declare Your Word that no weapon formed against me shall succeed. I declare that I am Your child — chosen and purposeful.

I speak joy and overwhelming hope throughout the day because You are alive in my life.

Thank You for loving me beyond my wildest imagination. I declare these prayers for favour and breakthrough in the name of Jesus,
