Here are practical safety guidelines to take note of.
• Never walk or drive through moving floodwater.
• Floodwater in Accra frequently mixes with sewage. Avoid ingesting it, and wash hands thoroughly with soap after any contact.
•If electrical systems get wet, don't touch switches or appliances until they've been checked.
• Stay off bridges over fast-moving water.
• If your car stalls in water, leave it immediately and move to higher ground.
