30 Walks in 30 Days Challenge 2026 🚶♀️🌍
During April, colleagues from Guernsey came together to take on our “30 Walks in 30 Days” challenge in support of Les Bourgs Hospice.
With 48 colleagues taking part, we collectively walked an incredible 14,966,401 steps, the equivalent of travelling all the way from Guernsey to Singapore.
Most importantly, thanks to everyone involved, we were proud to donate £720 to Les Bourgs Hospice, helping to support the amazing care and services they provide within our community.
A huge well done to everyone who took part and contributed to such a fantastic team effort. 👏
A huge thank you to Guernsey Alzheimer's Association for hosting such an insightful workshop for HFL and Oak employees last Friday.
We learned about the five types of dementia, how to spot the signs and, most importantly, stepped into the shoes of someone living with dementia.
Through the use of dementia suits, we experienced first hand the challenges many people face every day. From tying shoelaces and walking to putting on a coat, simple tasks became much more difficult. Alongside this, we wore glasses that mimic different eye conditions, used ear plugs and experienced reduced sensory input to better understand the effects of cognitive decline.
These suits are part of an incredible initiative by Guernsey Alzheimer’s Association, working in conjunction with Admiral Nurses and Dementia Friendly Guernsey, to build empathy and improve care across the island.
It is experiences like this that truly shift perspective.
