We love this!!

Lovely sight this morning! 🚲💛

We love seeing our children arriving with their parents on the back of their bikes. So many smiles from this family, enjoying a bike ride together before the day begins!

It's such a wonderful way to start the morning while encouraging quality family time, fresh air, and an active lifestyle! 🌞😊

Thank you to BBC Jersey for this coverage and asking the questions that need to be asked. Just because we a car centric community now, doesn’t mean that we can’t change for the better and create practices and infrastructure that works effectively for all of us. Cost of living is a key challenge for the government today, and if they believe that they will ensure that all islanders can make effective choices for their commute rather than being forced into the poverty trap that car dependency creates.

🚗 Jersey has one of the highest rates of car ownership in the world, with traffic often bumper‑to‑bumper at peak times.

Campaigners say the island’s “car‑centric” culture needs to change, but many say driving remains the most convenient option.

Is it time for a shift?

Why is it that many people use different norms around cars? How does this stop change? And what are ways to overcome that? Ask all your questions about to Ian Walker. Link in comments

What do we treat as “normal” without even noticing? In this exclusive Lab of Thought Ask Me Anything chat, Professor Ian Walker and Professor Marco Te Brömmelstroet will unpack motonormativity: the shared, often unconscious bias that leads societies to judge cars, driving, and street design differently from almost everything else.

Drawing on their work across mobility, psychology, public space, and the assumptions that shape everyday decision-making, Ian and Marco explored why car dominance can feel so natural, why public support for change is often underestimated, and what it takes to break through the mental models that keep our streets locked in place.

This is not a standard webinar. It is an intimate, thought-provoking conversation designed for people who want to go deeper with the Lab of Thought. Participants will have the opportunity to submit questions in advance and join a live Q&A during the session. You will be asked to submit your questions to Ian and/or Marco during purchasing your ticket.

The event also marks the start of a more engaged Lab of Thought online community: a premium space for curious practitioners, researchers, advocates, and urban thinkers to connect around the ideas, tensions, and possibilities shaping the future of mobility.
