A Love Supreme † / part I

/ Suprematism – from lat. supremus: supreme. /

I don't shoot fashion; I'm not particularly interested in it. But I love the style as well as simple and clear art concepts. The idea with Suprematist halos had lived in my head for quite a long time, and initially I planned to embody it in self-portraits, being unattached to any applied task.

However, last year an acquaintance with two interesting brands prompted the idea to make a collab. So, this is a small (and, as it seems to be, still unfinished) style story for the Russian ‘Kliokva’ and the Georgian ‘Flying Painter’. Besides, the shooting involves the shoes taken from my own project ‘Nomik’, which is still considered interesting by those who knows about it, even four years later.

Suprematism in art has to do with design, conciseness, symbolism through simple forms. This is a kind of artistic visual asceticism, with images and objects simplified to primary shapes: circular, triangular or square ones. In this shooting I call the figures halos because I regard visual simplicity as the cleansing of artistic thought from the husk. From something superficial, uselessly decorative, leading away from the clarity and harmony of the idea, and hence from purity.
