Before the bright lights, the big stages, and the international deals, there was a young boy from the quiet village of Coast Guard, nestled in the parish of St. Mark, Grenada—Jevaughn John, now known to the world as V’ghn.

Music was always around him. At night, he listened to his father play the guitar, and by day, he channeled his energy into dancing at the Spices Dance Company in Gouyave, where he developed his skills as a performer. Though many associate his artistic growth with Gouyave, his roots lie in Coast Guard, St. Mark—the village that shaped the foundation of his journey.

At just 11 years old, V’ghn formed a Soca duo. By 16, he stepped out as a solo artiste in Grenada’s National Soca Monarch Competition, earning his place among the island’s rising stars.

In 2019, he made history as the first Grenadian to place in the top three at Trinidad’s International Soca Monarch, winning the Groovy category with his anthem “Trouble in the Morning.”

Today, his reach spans far beyond the Caribbean. With nearly 100,000 monthly Spotify listeners, a deal with EGA Distro Ltd. under Virgin Records, and full ownership of his masters, V’ghn is setting a new standard for independent artiste

And now, in April 2025, another major milestone:
He’s been appointed the first World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) IP Youth Ambassador from the CARICOM region, representing the creative voices of the Caribbean on a global platform.

“There’s no pension in music,” he says. “Artiste need to understand and protect their intellectual property—not just for themselves, but for future generations.”

V’ghn isn’t just an artiste—he’s a songwriter, a cultural ambassador, a business-savvy creator, and a role model for the next generation.

This is not just a win for V’ghn—it’s a win for Coast Guard, for St. Mark, for Grenada, and for all of CARICOM.
