Meet Darlene! 🐾

This sweet and affectionate girl is longing for a home of her own and we truly believe she is going to flourish once she gets there. Darlene is a people oriented girl who absolutely adores human company and is happiest when she is spending time with her favourite people. She is starting to find kennel life a little tough so finding her the right home has never felt more important.

Darlene has a playful and loving nature and enjoys walks, cuddles and plenty of attention. She can get a little overexcited and may jump up when she is happy to see you, and she can pull a little on the lead at times, but she walks nicely on a harness and with calm consistent guidance she will continue to grow. Her foster carers describe her as a really sweet girl who settled beautifully over time and showed what a wonderful companion she can truly be.

A few things to know about Darlene's ideal home:

- Only pet in the home with no other dogs, cats or small animals
- Children aged 13 and over as she can become uncomfortable around younger children and her new family will need to manage interactions appropriately
- A calm and understanding home that can provide affection, clear boundaries and a settled routine
- Willingness to transport her to and from veterinary appointments as required

Please note Darlene is currently looking for a medical foster home while she awaits veterinary procedures. She cannot be formally rehomed until these procedures have taken place.

This lovely girl has so much love to give and we cannot wait to see her shine in a home of her own.

Kennel Viewing Update – Extreme Weather

Due to the extreme temperatures forecast this week, both our Birmingham and Wolverhampton centres will be closed to kennel viewings and walk-in visits to view the dogs.

The welfare of our dogs is always our top priority, and during periods of very hot weather it is important that they can remain as calm, rested and comfortable as possible. Reducing footfall around the kennels will help minimise stress and allow our team to focus on keeping the dogs cool throughout the day.

Our teams will be doing everything they can to help the dogs cope with the heat, including early morning walks, paddling pools, cooling treats, shaded rest areas and plenty of fresh water. We will also be focusing on enrichment activities to keep the dogs mentally stimulated without the need for excessive exercise.

We are incredibly grateful to our volunteers, many of whom are coming in earlier than planned to help ensure the dogs are exercised and settled before temperatures rise.

Our phone lines will remain open as normal, and visitors are still welcome to use our reception shops or speak to our team about dogs available for adoption. You can also browse some of our dogs looking for homes on our website.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we put the welfare of our dogs first during this period of extreme weather. We will continue to monitor conditions and provide further updates if needed.

Please help your own dogs stay cool, calm and comfortable during the hot weather too.

Meet Eowyn! 🐾

This young Rottweiler cross is an absolute people person and we mean that wholeheartedly!

Eowyn is sweet, affectionate and utterly devoted to the humans around her, often leaning in or latching onto your legs just to ask for a little extra fuss. She would much rather cuddle up with you than play with toys and genuinely thrives on human interaction and attention. She is the kind of girl who just wants to be close to her people!

Eowyn is still very much a puppy and has so much growing and learning ahead of her. She can be bouncy and excitable, may jump up and can pull or cut in front on the lead, but with consistent guidance and training she has every potential to grow into a wonderfully well mannered companion. She already responds to sit with hand signals and treats and is very food motivated which is going to make her training journey a real joy.

A few things to know about Eowyn's ideal home:

- No other pets in the home
- Best suited to dog savvy children aged 8 and over who are comfortable with her bouncy and enthusiastic nature
- A committed home willing to invest in her basic obedience, lead manners and continued socialisation work
- Must be muzzled at all times in public and continued muzzle training will be important
- Patient and consistent handling to help guide her through her puppy stages and build her confidence

Eowyn is a loving, enthusiastic and deeply affectionate girl who with the right support will grow into the most wonderful and devoted companion.
