📣 Solutions Not… Pumpkins?🎃

We all love a well-carved pumpkin on Halloween – they add a festive touch, light up the night, and create that spooky atmosphere we look forward to each year. But let’s be honest: pumpkins are a one-off. They’re often left until the last minute, tricky to carve, and once you’ve found a spot for them, they only last a few days before they start to wilt. And when it’s all over, they leave you with a soggy, smelly mess to clean up.

At WV Computers, we believe in Solutions Not Pumpkins. While pumpkins might work for a short time, your business can’t afford to rely on solutions that are difficult to implement, short-lived, and messy to maintain. Our IT support is different. It’s easy to set up, requires minimal effort from you, and unlike that fading pumpkin on your doorstep, it stays up and running, doing its job year-round. No hassle, no headache – just dependable IT solutions that keep your business moving forward.

In today’s fast-paced world, businesses can’t afford downtime. Your IT systems need to be running smoothly and efficiently every day – not just for a few days in October. That’s why our services are built to last, providing the security and stability you need. Whether it’s managing networks, handling cybersecurity, or offering round-the-clock support, we’re here to make sure your tech is working as hard as you do. Pumpkins might be fun for a quick fix, but they certainly won’t help when things go wrong in the middle of a workday.

When it comes to IT, reliability is key. Our team at WV Computers is available every day of the week, ensuring that your systems are up and running no matter the time or day. So this Halloween, enjoy carving those pumpkins, but when it comes to your business, remember: WV Computers offers solutions that last all year round, keeping you safe, secure, and stress-free. Because in IT, you need solutions, not pumpkins. 🎃💻

🌞 Stay Cyber-Safe This Summer! 🌞

As the weather heats up, so do the activities of cybercriminals. At WV Computers, we want to ensure you and your loved ones enjoy a scam-free summer. Here are some essential tips to keep your personal and financial information secure:

Spotting a Scam:

⚫ Unsolicited Contact: Be cautious of unexpected emails, calls, or messages asking for personal information.

⚫ Suspicious Links: Hover over links to check their authenticity before clicking. Look for subtle misspellings or unusual domains.

⚫ Urgent Requests: Scammers often create a sense of urgency. Verify the legitimacy of the request by contacting the company directly.

⚫ Too Good to Be True: If an offer seems too good to be true, it probably is. Be wary of deals or promotions that seem excessively generous.

Avoiding Scams:

⚫ Use Strong Passwords: Create complex passwords and update them regularly. Consider using a password manager for added security.

⚫ Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Add an extra layer of protection to your accounts by enabling 2FA wherever possible.

⚫ Keep Software Updated: Ensure your operating systems, antivirus software, and applications are up to date to protect against the latest threats.

⚫ Educate Yourself and Others: Stay informed about common scams and share this knowledge with family and friends.

What to Do If You Think You've Been Scammed:

⚫ Act Quickly: If you suspect a scam, immediately change your passwords and secure your accounts.

⚫ Report the Scam: Notify your bank, credit card company, and any relevant authorities. Report the scam to the FTC or your local consumer protection agency.

⚫ Monitor Your Accounts: Keep a close eye on your bank and credit card statements for any unauthorized transactions.

⚫ Seek Professional Help: If you’re unsure how to proceed, contact a cybersecurity professional for assistance.

Enjoy your summer with peace of mind by staying vigilant against cyber threats. At WV Computers, we're here to help you stay secure all year round. Stay cool and cyber-smart!

🥁 And our Business of the Month for December is...

🎉 Telford After Care Team TACT CIO 🎉

Telford After Care Team (TACT) is a charity organisation that focuses on assisting the recovery journey of ex-addicts, as well as providing housing and being a leaning post for mental health support. Since it's creation in 2012 by founder Rob Eyers, it's grown to helping people regrow themselves all across Telford, including hosting wellness activities like mediation, gardening groups, and men's/women's groups at the main site at Strickland House.

WV Computers is passionate about assisting anyone with IT support, especially such great charities like TACT who take care of others in need of a helping hand. When we first signed with TACT, we took a look at their IT and mapped out what we could improve. From the beginning, we've managed to upgrade their computer systems, their internet network (including enabling a guest WiFi for visitors to the site), and get them set up fully reliant to our Microsoft service suite. This allows the users to sit down at any desk with a computer on, sign in using their email address, and access all of their documents from the moment they're on the home screen, all of which they were previously unable to do.

But don't just listen to us! Here's the testimonial from T Roberts, the Finance Manager over at TACT:

“We’ve had WV Computers as our IT provider for over 3 months now, and it was a great decision to move over. Our previous in-house IT technician had set the systems up in such a way that made general day-to-day working very difficult, and also meant we couldn’t easily send and store our documents between the team. Since joining with WV Computers, we’ve now changed to Office 365 for our apps and emails, SharePoint to get our documents anywhere easily, set up our PC logins to use our Microsoft accounts, and set up our (much better) new office tech. Thanks to all the WV Computers team!"

Thanks to TACT for being such a great customer, they do some amazing work and we're honoured to be able to support them. Check them out on some other places too:

NEWS: The Boeing airline company has been hacked in a ransomware attack by Russian-based group LockBit following a 0 day attack. While they have not stated the methods used to obtain the data, or what data they have managed to syphon, LockBit has given Boeing a less than 6 day window to meet their demands.

Boeing is a company with over 150,000 employees, estimated annual turnover of approx. $66,610,000,000, and a large number of subsidiary companies, so there is a large amount of data that LockBit may be privy to. If a company even that size can be hacked, it shows that it's not the size of the company that matters, but the right IT Support. Give us a call or email today to see how we can support your IT integrity.
