For the last day of our week celebrating our volunteers and volunteering with Volunteer's Week

Today we are taking a look at our Head of Service, Dr. Alan Jarvis.

"I came to work at Base 25 in 2018 where I still volunteer as well as doing my fulltime role with them. I have overall responsibility for Base 25's operational delivery. I also provide strategic oversight and planning. In addition, I ensure the organisation follows Companies House and Charity Commission regulations and guidance."

"I started volunteering at the age of 13, serving as a warden for Woodlands Camp, and I continued with this until I was 26. Volunteering has given me amazing opportunities to work with a diverse range of people across the country and as far away as Panama."
"It has been a privilege to volunteer, and I was humbled to be awarded an honorary doctorate from Wolverhampton University in 2024 for my voluntary work."
"Volunteering for me sees me doing fund raising and building maintenance for Base 25. Externally I coach and mentor a number of managers from voluntary organisations across the local area. I continue to volunteer because I have always thought it is important to support my community, and I really enjoy volunteering"

This week is Volunteer' Week, we are celebrating our volunteers and those that are here from volunteering.

Volunteering is a great way to gain experience in a chosen field, and here at Base 25 we offer a variety of different opportunities.

Ben has recently joined the Base 25 team as volunteer in our community team.
"I help out in the charity shop, going through each item of clothing to make sure everything is neat, tidy, have price tags and are in good condition."
"I'm hoping that in the future I will be able to be more confident in myself and will be able to thrive better in a work environment and put my all into being someone who is reliable and always ready to help and Base 25 is helping me with that by giving me those opportunities to be reliable, helpful, and increasing my self confidence"
