It was a pleasure to welcome Selly Oak MP and Minister for Veterans Alistair Carns to the Aston branch of our Transport, Rail and Infrastructure Academy.
The TRIA network is a partnership with City of Wolverhampton College and West Midlands Combined Authority and in the last year has put more than 3,000 people on the path to careers in rail, construction and civils.
It was great to showcase the work we are doing to train people from his constituency and across Birmingham and the West Midlands at our state of the art facility in Aston.
As Vererans Minister it was also important to showcase how the Armed Forces is in the DNA of the business. Our CEO and founder Davie Carns served ten years in the Royal Marines, six of our senior leadership team are ex-Forces and five percent of our candidates have served in the military.

Fantastic to have so many of our employer partners join us this morning to discuss how we collectively shape the workforce of the future.
NIS Group is proud of the quality of our training which is helping put hundreds of people on the path to sustainable careers in rail, utilities, civils and construction.
An increasingly important part of our work is ensuring the learners who gain qualifications with us are ready for the workplace.
By working with the employers who are taking on the learners who come through the NIS Group system, we can ensure we are focusing our training to their requirements.

Two more from the classroom to the building site!
Raymond and Nathan both recently completed our Gateway to Construction course directly funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority. No sooner were they armed with their CSCS cards than they were supported into jobs with Buildforce Solutions on a flagship development in Birmingham city centre.
Both had been referred by their local Jobcentre Plus. Learners on the course get training in disciplines including health and safety, first aid, manual handling, asbestos awareness and fire safety from our experienced trainers with a view to getting site ready.
