A few interesting finds from the dozens unearthed yesterday, all dating from the late 18th to early 20th century. They include part of a chamber pot, coarse and refined earthenwares and some pig canine teeth!

After removing a dead tree stump, the full extent of the pigsty was revealed today, including a large iron sheet covering more than a quarter of the floor!

We've had some good times and made some interesting discoveries at Oak House over the last few years and guess what, this year we're doing it again!
On 21st and 22nd July we'll be digging as part of the annual Festival of Archaeology, fascinating adults and children alike in the gardens of this wonderful old house and you can take part as a volunteer. It's free, we provide all the necessary equipment and we're fully insured.
