Saturday in four πŸ“Έ

🌱 Our first harvest from the veg garden! Spinach! I had to resow it twice because of the slugs and snails, but luckily I have that problem under control now 🐌

πŸ¦† No duck eggs for us at the moment! All 3 female ducks have made a nest and are sitting on eggs. Jerry is being protective and guarding them from above. Interestingly, they kicked out all their straw first and then made their own nests out of feathers.

🐐 Margot has been given some much needed baby free time. The kids are drinking her dry, and she doesn't get a minute to herself! Motherhood is hard work!

🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 We went to our first Highland games!!! There was so much going on, I didn't know where to look first! It was absolutely amazing and we can't wait to go to another πŸ’™

Margot has plenty to eat in her own paddock, but is a firm believer that the grass is always greener in the other side πŸ˜† Harry went and collected her a bucketful of mixed greens from the other side of the fence and she loved it 🀩

Aren't Snowdrop and Daffodil growing?!

Life has been busy lately, and I have had zero time for social media, so I thought I would share a little update and snippet into life on Strutt farm 🐐πŸ₯πŸ¦†πŸ‘

The turkeys are growing really well and have been moved out of the kitchen and into the barn so that they can stay under heat, but have more space.

Ducktopia is in progress! We were left a corner bath that didn't fit into the upstairs bathroom properly, but will make a fabulous little pond for the ducks. They are going to have their own area, where they can come and go as they please. Poor Harry just has a lot of digging to do first πŸ’ͺ

I have been making soap and have some brand new soaps ready to buy, as well as a restock of the very popular Coastal Glow β˜€οΈ
🧼Lavender, Rosemary, and Chamomile
🧼 Coffee scrub

How many chickens are too many chickens? We haven't found out yet πŸ˜† I accidentally ordered 10 meat bird chicks... so when Harry has finished digging, he will be straight on with a chicken tractor. It will be great to produce our own chicken again, even if we didn't plan on doing it just yet!

The veg garden is really taking shape. I am however being plagued with slugs 🀒 I am now the crazy woman that walks around the garden at midnight, in her pj's, sporting a head torch and a bucket full of salt water - like a slug murdering dressing gown wearing ninja.

Harry has made an axe throwing range in the garden. Not sure that should have been quite as high on his list of priorities, but I am now slightly scared of how good Oscar is with an axe πŸͺ“

We don't really have time/the funds for a much needed greenhouse this year, so I have turned the porch into a greenhouse. Nobody but me is thrilled with my ingenious idea 🀣

My personal big news is that I have a new job! I am now a gardener at a private estate and I absolutely love it. I grow fruit, vegetables, and cut flowers for the house πŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎ

Oh and Lilly has her driving test next month, so we are risking our lives and taking her out on the roads πŸš—

Life is busy, but very full 🩷

The turkeys are hatching 2 days early! And I forgot to put the hatching mat in πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ So far, 2 out of 5 have hatched, and another 2 are pipping!

I'M SO EXCITED!!!!

Sunny days are for infusing botanicals in olive oil for some beautiful new soaps, Harry planting 66 trees, the start of a new smallholding project, and of course a million loads of washing πŸ§ΊπŸŒΌπŸŒ²β˜€οΈ
