Today I have had a detailed walk around Wakefield city centre identifying the many issues requiring immediate attention. I was joined by Wakefield Council Cabinet members, Officers and Wakefield Bid.
I will also be visiting Castleford,Pontefract, Knottingley and many other areas of the district to evaluate what is required in our communities.
In the upcoming weeks, Wakefield city centre will be seen to have had much needed work completed. It is time to bring people back into our city and towns. New road markings have already been started on the edge of the city, which will be continued into the city centre after much needed new road resurfacing. ALL of our district deserves to be well maintained and this is the start of a district wide scheme.
