This is why I love coaching, letting them do their thing and then making little adjustments to improve the outcome and seeing it unfold is the bit that makes me happy!
Here you can see Otis, working on 1-1 with the defender and getting a shot away.
The details I gave Otis ( I did demonstrate) -
• Ball control
• Little touches in front of the defender
• Execute the skill (step over)
• Strike on goal
Otis demonstrated what I would say 9 times out of 10 every kid would do. Good first touch but the skill was too far away from the defender and that would have given the defender more of a chance to tackle him/block the shot.
After a Little adjustment, more little touches in front of the defender and then the skill closer which gives you more of an advantage to beat them. Execute the skill with the outside of the foot closer to the goal and this gives you a higher percentage chance of scoring.
On this occasion, Otis strikes the ball onto the post but you can see the improvement, with just that small detail change from me.
This is the importance of doing 1-1 with a coach. You get the interaction with the coach directly, whereas if you go to big group sessions you do not get that.

Back to doing what I love and do best....
Here we have Eddie and Holly, my second session with them and already little by little I can see improvements in them.
Eddie is a little bundle of joy who naturally just wants to just score goals. Straight away, I worked on his striking of the ball to increase his shot power and by God can he strike it.
Holly never stops smiling, she is so infectious 😊 but this girl can play!! I was asked to work on her striking of the ball and introduce power, first session ( I didn't record) 🤦🏼♂️ but we worked on technique in shooting and as you can see by the video she has mastered it. 🫶🏼
Finished off with some 1 on 1s and naturally being brother and sister I was expecting fireworks and they didn't disappoint with some tackles and wrestling going on 😂 but some good skills and goals on show. We had to stop at one point due to laughter being too much!
