One of the things I love about the DeepWater Exploration Inc. Explore3D over other ROV based SLAM systems, is that the cameras are on an umbilical to the computer brain - most put camera and computer in the same housing. The umbilical means that the cameras can easily be tilted to suit the task: for a bed mapping survey, point them down nadir; for a wall survey, point them forward; for a bit of both, go oblique - while all of the time keeping the ROV in its naturally trimmed attitude.
