Carrying out chain sling inspections. It’s always important to hang them to ensure that any signs of elongation is obvious during an inspection. Common defects are worn and deformed links, elongation, missing data tags, distorted load hooks, and missing load hook safety catches. In certain environments, they may be subjected to weld splatter, which will have an adverse effect on the chains integrity due to heat damage, and this will also warrant replacement.
