The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is using new implant technology to help people with long-term back pain.

The device helps strengthen muscles in the back and could help patients return to everyday activities they enjoy.

2⃣ 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗲𝘆𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝘂𝗯

South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust is opening a new Eye Imaging Hub at the Beacon of Light.

The service will help more people get eye checks closer to home and support earlier treatment when needed.

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has secured funding to improve care for people with mesothelioma across the North East.

The funding will help patients get expert advice, treatment and support wherever they live.

Gateshead NHS has launched a virtual reality experience to help women prepare for breast screening appointments.

The project aims to reduce worry and encourage more people to attend screening.

A new Medicines Manufacturing Centre is being built in Seaton Delaval. It will help make sure patients can get important medicines when they need them.

The centre will support hospitals across the region, create new jobs and help strengthen NHS services for the future.

We’re celebrating progress at NCIC!

Our Trust has climbed 10 places in the NHS league tables, the biggest improvement in our region.

This reflects the commitment of our amazing staff across planned care, diagnostics and Referral to Treatment.

Trudie Davies, Chief Executive of NCIC, said:
“The plans we have developed together are taking us in the right direction. It is good to see that the hard work of our staff is beginning to pay off in terms of performance. They should be very proud of what they are achieving. This is not just about numbers, it is about the quality of care we provide for our patients, and that is what matters to us most.

“Our waiting times for elective care are much improved, but we know we still have much more to do. Our patients still wait too long in our emergency departments, but we are confident that our £4m investment in staffing and facilities will create the right environment for us to provide the best possible care.”

🚑 NHS England Chief Executive Sir Jim Mackey visited North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust after strong results for patients.
