A few lofts recently completed. An MDF door made to fit an existing hatch opening combined with the standard two part ladder is typically £270, the easy stow ladder (longer with spring assist and an extended hand-rail) adds £90, a uPVC type hatch adds £110. So a uPVC hatch and an easy stow ladder is £470. Timber ladders are a combined hatch and ladder unit, larger and more sturdy with deeper, flat treads and typically £750 - £800. An average installation is about 11 or 12 square metres. 2.4m x 4.8m of flooring (11.5 Sq metres), on a raised subframe, with the MDF door and standard ladder is typically £950. (plus insulation if needed). Again add £90 for the easy stow ladder and £110 for the uPVC hatch. This package would be installed in a day. 20 square metres with a uPVC hatch and an easy stow ladder would be about £1600 and the timber ladder would add about £280. This would be one and a half or two days dependent on ladder choice. from there each ten square metres would add about £550 and half a days work.
