βοΈ Writing Through Play βοΈ
Our friends at Peeple have shared some brilliant ideas for helping children explore writing through everyday play.
Did you know that children don't need to form letters or write words to begin learning about writing? Scribbles, drawings, mark making and pretend writing all help children understand that writing is useful, meaningful and fun. π
Try:
π§Έ Making labels or little books for toys
π Creating road signs and car wash signs during vehicle play
π Adding signs and labels to small world scenes
π½οΈ Making menus and order pads for a pretend cafΓ©
The best part? You can use things you already have at home, such as paper, cardboard boxes and old notepads.
Remember, every mark your child makes is a step on their writing journey. Keep it playful, follow their interests and enjoy learning together! π
