A new strategy called ‘The Borough That Cares’ will be launched on Carers Rights Day next Thursday.
Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council and key partners will launch this strategic framework to ensure carers in Rotherham stay mentally and physically healthy, and economically active, for longer.
More than 30,000 carers are providing unpaid care in for someone who otherwise couldn’t manage without carers’ help. As carers have been affected disproportionately during the pandemic, it is important to create a borough that cares for its carers.
Councillor David Roche, Rotherham Council’s Cabinet member for Adult Care and Health, said: “This strategy can’t come at a more pertinent time, and shows our commitment to working together as a team to identify, acknowledge, and support our carers in Rotherham.”
