Nothing But Progress

There is a point to life, in growth, progression and self discovery where we move on to a higher purpose. Progress is seldom linear, and often marked by setbacks, tests and tribulations.
We hopefully evolve to discover or develop a higher self. An amalgamation of our past experience and learnings. A culmination of sub personalities, different version of ourselves that were relevant at one point in life, but now are not so useful.
The scared child screamed for attention when it knew no better. The brash young you served the ego to make a mark on the world. The naive romantic believed in perfection. They all made a great headline act at one point in your life. But are they the best person to be the version of you to react now?
Rarely.
If we are conscious of our path, the higher self is the best bits of each part of us as we move forward. Creating newer versions of ourselves, hopefully cherry picking the most productive qualities to evolve.
But bear in mind, you will never leave the vulnerable child inside you behind. It will scramble for air time in your head, beg to run the show and sometimes win the stage. Embrace this momentary showing and temper it back down.
You cannot kill off the old you, just pacify it and know that there will always be a part of you that seeks validation, revenge and a sense of misplaced justice.
The only justice in the world is in your mind. So make peace with events before the anger and primal self takes centre stage.
It is not weak to ask for help. It is not strong to bottle things up. Nor is it wise to assume you know anyone else's motivation or true reasons. All you can do is empathise and absorb it.
Then allow your higher self to reflect fully on just how important it is to be angry. Rarely is it worth the fight.
True, you should teach the world that actions come with consequences, but that isn't often best served in anger.
Be aware of your primal self. Accept it. But then let anger pass and return to the version of you that knows what's best.
