Reading School

Last Monday marked the inaugural OR v School golf match at Calcot Park Golf Club. This occasion brought together 20 golfers, 4 distinguished guests and prizes presented by Headmaster Dr Chris Evans (OR 1990-1997).

The result? A hard-fought 3-2 victory for the School. Proof that the next generation of Reading golfers means business!

The day also saw the unveiling of the new Bob George Golf Trophy, introduced by OR Archivist Ken Brown (1955-1963) in memory of the late Bob George (OR 1931-1940), honouring his distinguished career both at School and beyond.

Somewhere in a school corridor between 2005 and 2014, these two must have crossed paths without either of them knowing they'd end up on opposite ends of a lacrosse court in Prague.

On Thursday, Dom Sandy (OR 2005-2010) lined up for France against Harry Perry (OR 2007-2014) playing for Wales, at the European Box Lacrosse Championships. Both picked up assists. Wales scored twice in the closing minute, the second just nineteen seconds after France had drawn level, to win it 9-8.

Congratulations to Harry. Commiserations to Dom. We suspect this one comes up at the next OR reunion...
