Here's something a little different from me - not jazz but musicals!

Now in its fourth year, MTW Gold & Friends (including me!) are back with A Night at The Musicals on July 4th at The Croft Hall, an annual concert of musical theatre numbers which benefits a charity that supports vulnerable youth - SAYes Mentoring. Bring a picnic (cabaret seating with tables is provided). Raffle at interval. New this year: a bar! The concert has consistently sold out in the past so I recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.

This week I’m working on adding this jazz standard to my repertoire. It’s Only A Paper Moon, with lyrics by Billy Rose & Yip Harburg and music by Harold Arlen, was written for the 1932 musical The Great Magoo. The musical was a flop but the song was a hit, with famous versions by Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald and Benny Goodman. I’m also enjoying the Natalie Cole version, myself 🎶 🎵
