Chapter 2

21/05/2026

This is what happens when Chapter2 Founder, Dr Richard Kay, starts tidying his garden 🌳.

"I found this little oak-tree-in-the-making in my garden. I was struck by the size of the tap root. A great reminder that there is a lot more going on under the surface than we typically imagine.

There are often symptoms of growing up without a Dad that can be observed from the surface (struggling at school, anti-social behaviour, low self-esteem to name a few). My aim is to keep the image of this potential oak tree in my mind the next time I am tempted to judge what I observe on the surface. Then if I succeed in that aim, to ask myself; "what's really going on beneath the surface?"

Finding Hope in the Wilderness 20/05/2026

This group of amazing fundraisers will be joined by 40 others in next month's 50 Mile Father's Day Challenge 💪.

Starting in Hope in the Peak district, they will attempt to walk a 50 mile course in 24 hours all in the name of raising money £100K.

We know that approximately 2 million children in the UK have no meaningful contact with their fathers. Many of these are boys who will have no positive male role models in their lives. Chapter2 strongly believes building trusted relationships through mentoring can help solve the fatherless crisis.

Join Chapter2 and our incredible fundraisers in providing more mentors to some of our community's most vulnerable boys.

Finding Hope in the Wilderness The 2026 Father's Day challenge is to cover 50 miles and a height equivalent to England's tallest mountain in just 24 hours. All in support of our mission is to end the waiting list for fatherless boys in need of a male mentor.
