If you keep falling back into the same old habits, it's probably not because you lack will power, but because the brain is very good at spotting cues. The brain uses habits as energy-saving devices, and once the behaviour is learned, it spots the triggers or cues to follow the pattern it knows.
In her new video, Heather Wright, FPSA talks about the Habit Loop and how the cues affect your behaviour even when you're trying to actively change a habit.

We are really aware of the negatives of social media nowadays. But we can all find ourselves wasting a half hour scrolling before we click back to reality and think "What was I doing?"
If you feel drained instead of inspired by social media, this is why. Your brain is constantly switching tasks, is distracted, and the brain cannot determine which task/screen/app is most important to focus on.
