Let's talk about what is meant by an anteriorly tilted pelvis!

So today I welcomed in a lovely new client who was suffering with some ongoing lower back pain and moderate intermittent knee pain. She completed the full initial assessment including postural analysis and it was clear to see what was impacting her pain.

So what is it?

Something I see all the time more commonly in women.... Anterior tilted pelvis

An anteriorly titled pelvis (ATP) simply means when the pelvis tilts forward, creating an excessive curve in the lumbar spine (lower back) also known as lordosis. This can lead to a number of issues such as the obvious lower back pain but also tight hip flexors, weak glutes and even sore knees!

What exactly impacts it:

✔️Prolonged sitting or stagnent standing.

✔️ Tight hip flexors

✔️Muscle imbalances throughout other areas

✔️ Weak core

✔️ Weak glutes

✔️ Imbalanced excessive load on the knees

These client's photos were taken at the start of the session and then again at the end and we are already seeing great improvements. Her overall posture is more upright with a more open chest appearance and less of the scapular on show from the side angle.We focused on identifying key areas of weakness, adjusting misalignments and carrying out manual therapy on her soft tissue...

I cannot wait to see more continued improvements in her posture and decreased pain💪💪
