Well what a surprise and lovely village in Liverpool! Woolton is gorgeous, we were there today sourcing a victorian larder cupboard and it didn't disappoint, quaint buildings, independent shops, we filled our bags with goodies from an Italian deli, organic salads from the village farm shop, and marinated meats from the butchers, finished off with a glass of wine at a lovely bar in the centre ❤️

1. As a rule, hanging pictures as a collection the center should be around eye level. This generally means positioning the picture so its midpoint is 90cm from the floor, depending on the ceiling height of your room and your height, of course. All too often paintings are hung too high on a wall, try to keep a centre-line at around eye-level.
2. If you’re creating a collection it’s practical to hang your largest picture first centrally and work around it, play around with a few different arrangements laid out on the floor before you hang them, if the pictures are lightweight it’s a good idea to use gel tape or Command Picture hooks so you can adjust the layout without creating holes in the walls.
3. When creating a collection keep to the same frame colours for a cohesive look, a dark frame looks great against a light coloured wall, whereas a light or metallic frame pops against a dark wall. Dark frames on a dark wall look great but work with a pale picture mount or paler backgrounds within your prints to balance the appearance.
4. Hanging pictures too symmetrically in rows can look a little forced; it’s more relaxed to hang in a variety of different styles such as hanging one or two pictures over another or grouping a collection of pictures together.
5. In spaces where you're often seated such as a dining area, it makes sense to mount wall pictures lower so they sit within your natural eye line.
6. As with any rule, flexibility is needed, you may have other artwork to move around, or a fixed wall feature such as a fireplace. If the picture’s midpoint is not exactly at eye level, don’t panic: go with your instinct and hang it where it feels natural.
7. A large piece of art should demand a wide space and be allowed to shine. It will most likely be more impactful if hung alone without other pictures around it.
8. Different areas may need different arrangements. A more symmetrical hang is acceptable in a formal dining area or hall, collections are great for informal areas.
