There seems to be a new mobile mechanic daily at the minute advertising on Facebook.
Be VERY careful who you trust with repairs. This customer contacted us as a mobile mechanic (who was supposed to be reputable) had done a timing belt on the vehicle, the engine light was on with running issues. The customer took it to another garage for a second opinion and confirmed the timing was out! 😳 the second garage didn't want to get involved as they hadn't done the job initially. The mobile mechanic then rechecked all work and said it was fine TWICE!!!
After a brief chat, we welcomed the customer to get the vehicle to us for an assessment. We checked the vehicle fault codes (timing related) checked the timing properly with the correct tools and confirmed the mobile mechanic had replaced the vvt pulleys and guessed the timing 😫 we cannot believe what we see from other places, this mobile mechanic gets tagged in a few vehicle related statuses on poole community group.
We put the vehicle right and made sure it was 100% before leaving. We took pictures along the way for the customer as evidence with a full labour description and now assisting where we are needed in recouping the extra costs back. We cannot name and shame this mobile mechanic due to the situation but beware!!!!

We are always very busy but we will always try and fit people in where we can.

Anyone see anything wrong? No?! Neither did the mot tester 2 months ago. This was at a local garage that rhymes with "halfrauds". One very lucky customer. Not sure how it managed to drive in to us 👀

This not only puts the driver and passengers at risk, but everyone else on the road too. Safe to say the customer will be pursuing things further when we've put things right. 🛠🔧🚗

We go on about servicing and correct maintenance all the time but its only to prevent big jobs like this happening and to save customers money!
This 2016 ford was recovered to us for no start and suspected timing issue. We removed the timing belt cover first and found barely any teeth on the timing belt! (See the picture) which then shattered some of the rocker arms.
The oil was also very thick/sludge due to lack of servicing. When we service all vehicles, you will find the timing belt replacements in the advisories section. What would have cost £400 is now more than triple the cost.

If you are not sure about your vehicle timing belt/chain give us a message/call and we can advise accordingly.

Following on from our post last week about servicing, this vehicle was recovered to us and was advised do not start due to oil quality. Second time we've seen one like this. This vehicle wasn't that old and with only 50k on the clock. Unfortunately the engine had never been serviced and was now scrap. New engine and turbo required.
Servicing should be done at least once a year or 10,000 miles (whichever occurs first)
If you have any doubts or questions we are always here to help! Just give us a call.

When we go on about servicing and how vital it is, this is the proof. (Some people think it's just a scam)

This vehicle came to us not running 100% and the engine light on. Codes indicated a fault with the timing. A quick strip down and we found the chain tensioner faulty, allowing excessive movement in the chain. It was so bad you can see the damage to the timing cover.
Customer reported the car hadn't been serviced for years, and we could tell! The oil and filter should be changed at least once a year or every 10,000 miles (whichever occurs first)
Full timing chain kit, new oil and filter change, new water pump and it runs 100% again 👌

WET BELT FAILURE!!!!!

This one takes us into double figures for 2025!

Unfortunately this was the first time we have had the pleasure of serving this local company. They were using another local garage (we won't shame them) but the garage never advised the customer these vans have wet belts! Our favourites!
But we would prefer to do them before it's too late and cause engine damage.
As you'll see from the pictures, this one had stripped 18 teeth from the belt causing damage to the rocker arms.
Full strip down, new rockers, new cams/cam casing with the full wet belt and various components. All parts from main dealer.

All back on the road 24hrs later.

Safe to say we have gained a new customer and will be carrying out all repairs on this companies fleet from now on. Including wet belts on their other vans!

If you are not sure about your vehicle and belts ect, we can check for you in minutes!
