We hear the term ‘copy-editing’ bandied about a fair bit in the publishing industry (sometimes interchangeably with ‘proofreading’), but what does it actually mean?

Copy-editing is a step distinct from developmental editing, where content is evaluated and organised, and from proofreading, where text that has been set out in its final layout is checked for errors. Instead, copy-editing calls for reading a text thoroughly and proposing changes for consistency, clarity and correctness – taking what’s written and refining it into its best version.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and Prepressers are building mentally healthy habits – moving and spending time in nature – thanks to the Step Count Challenge. We've even passed the million-step mark, hitting a combined total of 1,564,257 steps! 🥾

The Step Count Challenge continues, with Prepressers getting out and about in weather foul and fair. We've hit a combined 964,743 steps after two weeks – that's nearly 422 miles! 🥾

This week Prepress Projects joined the walkingscotland.org.uk spring 2026 Step Count Challenge, and we are pleased to announce our two teams: 'the Print Runners' and 'Copy and Paced'.

We'll be doing our best to get out, walk and hit some step goals, and we'll be posting a weekly step update as we go.

But for now, here are Copy and Paced out for a team walk along the South Inch in Perth, hanging out with their new mascots, the South Inch swans!
