When Fi, one of our volunteers spotted a post on Missing Pets, Dundee and Angus last week about a hedgehog seen wandering in the middle of the road she acted quickly. Someone had already scooped the hedgehog up and placed it in a box in a garden to keep it safe. Fi went to collect and brought it into the rescue. Josie was struggling to breathe and was very thin and dehydrated - she was also ‘jumpy’ and sensitive to touch. She needed several nebulisers over the first 48 hours as well as sub cut fluids. P**p tests revealed parasites. It was clear that Josie had suffered some form of trauma at some point, her head is tilted to one side, her nose is ‘offset’ and her vision is impaired - though to what degree is still unclear. She is still quite unwell, though as you can see a very determined girl. She’s also a very sweet and gentle soul who we hope with time and treatment can regain her health.

So many admissions in May and yesterday the phone calls just kept pouring in and sadly we cannot take them all as we run on full all the time. No sooner do we move one on than another arrives.
The Hodgeheg - who we nickname Hodge - arrived last weekend. We will, when we get a minute, update you on more recent admissions and releases!
Hodge was less than 250 grams but as you can see determined to do all she can to survive from the outset! Hodge is deceptive - she’s really been quite poorly, but like many hedgehogs she will co intent eat despite it all. She is however doing well and putting on weight - keep it up little Hodge!
Thank you Nicky for scooping her up and bringing her in ❤️🦔
